TIMELINE

The reNEW Minnesota Campaign has 5 phases to not only win, but build a broad, deep and lasting progressive movement.

Phase 1: Engage the Community To Build Our Vision

Hold conversations throughout Minnesota as we gather input on our vision for a reNEWed Minnesota. Focus on communities of color, rural Minnesota and other historically disenfranchised people. Ask people to commit to endorse together.

Phase 2: Engage the Candidates

Share our vision with candidates and engage in meaningful two way conversations where candidates learn more about our progressive vision and we learn more about the governing style and core convictions of our candidates.

Phase 3: Choose a Candidate

We’re constructing a people-driven endorsement process built on progressive beliefs.  TakeAction Minnesota will hold a public candidate screening and endorsement process in 2010.  We will choose a candidate who we believe will most boldly implement our vision, has a plan to win, and can govern with us to implement our vision to change people’s lives for the better.  Everyone who joins TakeAction Minnesota will get a vote on which candidate we will endorse.

Phase 4: Increase Our Capacity to Win

The political party endorsement process provides a way through the caucus and convention system to build power.  We won’t stop there. We will ask everyone to commit money and volunteer hours to an eventual endorsee – the resources we need to win the election in November.

Phase 5: Governing

Winning this election won’t change our state. We need to continue acting as a movement after Election Day. We are asking people to commit now to stay involved in 2011 and beyond. We will hold a mass meeting with our newly elected governor next winter to begin making our vision a reality.
